UPDATE: 7/11/2015ZIGZAG is now available for download! For this reason, I've chosen to move from this thread to the official pack thread here:For all future updates please see that thread! It's been a fun journey here, and I hope to continue it in the main resource pack thread! Thanks everyone for the help and support!Backstory & Plan!Welcome to the ZigZag WIP!This will be my work in progress/update thread until I am ready to release it for download.
Here you can download textures for Minecraft Bedrock, only the best and most popular texture packs. Texture Packs for Minecraft 1.16, 1.15, 1.14, 1.13 for Android. The ZigZag texture pack is the hard work of Jamie Mckiernan, an ultra-talented artist who works for Harmonix. And Jamie was kind enough to speak to me about it! “I went to the Massachusetts College of Art,” Jamie tells me, when I ask her how she started out.
For now I will only cover the 1.8 version of vanilla minecraft, but in the future I have plans to expand this to many other mods, including most of Direwolf20, as this is the modpack I play with my old roommates.I'm aiming to have this texture pack follow my natural style, which tends to be stylized, textured and angular. It should also feel familiar to the base game, so it's not too confusing to get around.
Please always feel free to shout out suggestions as I go!About the Artist:I am a video game artist by trade who works in a studio full time so I will try to update as much as I can, keeping in mind that this is really a side-project that will mostly done after work and on the weekends. Also important to note for anyone interested, if I ever post a screenshot of a shaderized version of the game, that I am running a slightly modded chocapic shader mod (slightly more blue emissives). Looking pretty sweet so far!
I especially love the logs and leaves. Cobblestone looks really cool too, but the large triangular(ish) stone in the center of the block creates some tiling issues. Maybe try breaking it up into two smaller stones?Grass and stone textures seem a bit plain. I know that was your intent, but right now I'd say they sort of don't fit in with more detailed blocks like your cobble and trees. Maybe try adding in some detail?Actual ores look good, but perhaps try giving them more of an embedded look. They look a little tacked-on at the moment, though maybe it's because of how smooth the stone is.All in all you're off to a great start.
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with next. It's customary on this forum to post pictures without shaders so we can get a good look at the textures without having to wonder what's shader and what's texture. With that said. This is inspiring. This could seriously contend with Sphax and Trition in terms of quality. It's a little too default-esque for my taste, but it's still extremely well done.As Duru said, a lot of the textures either have repeats or are two plain. The logs are also an offender of the repeating patterns with the large 'h' shape at the top/bottom of the tile standing out in a pretty pronounced way.
It's not horrible, though. It's going to be a lot of work to get this completed for the default alone, what more all of the mods in that pack. I sincerely hope that you manage it, though.
This is really great!Best wishes on this project. Hay thanks guys! And especially for your crits and comments!
I'm continuing to balance the need more details in certain areas with textures I want to be restful for the eyes. Here's a shot of the new and improved grass, I still kept it fairly simple, but just pumped up it's texture a little. I want the grass in the pack to sort of act like an area of rest for the eye like. Took your guys crit about the side-grass texture as well, it felt way to flat before, so I broke it up with this little leafy sort of look.I took the shaders off as well, so you guys can get a better sense of what is texture vs.
What is shader. (dirt still has some seeming issuesHere's a shot of the oak planks/wood and the glass:Here's also a non-shader shot of the bricks, and oak trees.
That’s right folks! If you haven’t heard already from my twitter, ZigZag is now officially a Minecraft partner! That means it will soon be available on the Marketplace on all platforms! This includes Java, Pocket, Bedrock, VR, and all consoles! What does this mean for the Java Edition? Not too much!
I will be continuing to provide all updates to the Java edition for free on my website as usual.BUT for a little while I’ll need to focus on the big task of porting everything over. So there will be a little while without download links. I will still be keeping you all up to date with the progress week to week:)Thank you to everyone for the continued support and excitement!
